CEO of Israel’s NSO Corporation that produces Pegasus spyware retires

Shalev Hulio, NSO’s CEO, has announced his resignation, effective immediately.

Yaron Shohat, the company’s chief operating officer, has been appointed to oversee the restructuring.

A company source confirmed that as part of the restructuring, approximately 100 employees will be laid off.

Following an investigation, the NSO found itself at the centre of a global spying scandal.

According to NSO, its technological tools and software are aimed at apprehending terrorists, paedophiles, and serious criminals.

The Israeli company has always stated that it only sells this software to countries that have been approved by Israeli authorities.

According to media reports, the Pegasus programme enabled it to spy on at least 180 journalists, 600 political figures, and 85 activists across several countries.
