Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi resigns as Union Minister for Minority Affairs

Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi has resigned from the position of Union Minister of Minority Affairs.

Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi’s name was not included in the list of nominees by their respective parties.

As their term as Rajya Sabha members ends on July 7, both ministers lost their position.

A student leader at the time of emergency, he first contested elections in 1980 as an independent candidate.

He won his first election in 1998 from Rampur constituency in Uttar Pradesh.

In 2001, he was elected Vice-Chairman of Centre for Cultural Resources and Training.

Mukhtar Abbaswas was elected to Member of Parliamentary, Rajya Sabha.

Naqvi was a Member of Hindi Salahkar Samiti, Ministry of Civil Aviation.

In 2014, Mukhtar was the Member of the Committee on Home Affairs.

Mukhtar Abbaswas Naqvi was the Minister of State (Independent Charge) of Minority Affairs since 2017.

He joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in 2014.
