Elon Musk on Twitter, “Humanity will reach Mars in your lifetime”

Elon Musk has previously claimed that it will take 1,000 spaceships and “a million tonnes” of vitamin C to sustain life on Mars.

Musk had said that in order to live on Mars, “we need to have a self-sustaining city.”

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX stated that there will be “a lot of jobs” on the red planet. And that there will be “direct democracy” so that residents can make their own decisions.

According to him, food would be grown on solar-powered hydroponic farms located underground or in an enclosed structure.

Since the 1970s, robotic landers and rovers have been landing on Mars.

NASA’s Artemis human lunar exploration programme envisions returning to the Moon by 2024 and using the experience gained there to prepare for Mars.

In 1990, then-President George H.W. Bush Sr. made the most audacious promise in history: a man on Mars by July 20, 2019.

The pledge was never fulfilled, and similar goals stated by Presidents George W. Bush, Barack Obama, and Donald Trump have not resulted in concrete programmes.

The Mars colony concept will be tested in NASA’s Artemis programme.

Musk has proposed converting Martian water and atmospheric carbon dioxide into oxygen and methane fuel.
