James Webb Space Telescope captures stellar images of Orion Nebula

The Orion Nebula has been photographed in its entirety by the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST).

The gaseous cloud is 1,350 light-years away from Earth and is the nearest star-forming region to the planet.

Scientists were able to study the nebula’s numerous structures using the JWST’s ability to detect infrared light, which was scaled to 40 astronomical units, or the size of our solar system.

This stunning image could easily be misinterpreted as a magical creature with pixie dust ‘wings,’ but these are simply extensions of the Orion bar.

The image reveals intricate details about the birth of stars and supernovas during the first million years of the Milky Way’s evolution.
