Amazon announced the closure of its online learning platform for high school students in India, less than two years after its launch. The Amazon Academy platform debuted early last year, during a surge in virtual learning caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. It provided preparation for competitive exams such as the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE), which allows admission to top engineering colleges across India.

Last year, Amazon announced the launch of Amazon Academy. The platform provided specially designed mock tests with over 15,000 handpicked questions from industry experts, as well as hints. At regular intervals, it also hosted live All India Mock Tests (AIMT). The shutdown comes at a time when edtech companies are under pressure from the reopening of schools and coaching centres across India.
