Apple Files an Appeal in Response to UK Privacy Concerns


Apple has filed an appeal to the UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) on its App Tracking Transparency feature.

The iPhone manufacturer believes that the investigation must be reopened because the device was released too quickly. The CMA reiterates its commitment to defending its position and conducting its investigation within the statutory timeframe.



The UK’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has been looking into Apple and Google’s “effective duopoly” on mobile browsers and cloud gaming for nearly a year. The amount of data collected was comparable to that used by companies such as Meta to circumvent App Tracking Transparency.

Although Apple states that the data cannot be used to personally identify a user, it is alleged that the permanent ID number linked to iCloud accounts may.
