Prayasta 3D Inventions Pvt Ltd, a Pune-based firm that makes 3D-printed breast implants, has won a national technology award

The Department of Science and Technology has awarded a national technology prize for 2022 to a Pune-based business working on 3D-printed breast implants (DST). The winners were announced on May 11 in New Delhi on National Technology Day.

Prayasta 3D Inventions Pvt Ltd manufactures 3D breast implants and prostheses that are both rupture-free and sutureable. For these medical implants, the business use its in-house designed elastomer additive manufacturing (iEAM) technology. They are backed by the Department of Biotechnology’s BIRAC grant and DST’s Nidhi Prayas.

Breast, chin, malar (cheek), nasal, tracheal, and esophageal stents are among the individualised implants.

The prize is given to startups that are developing technology that has the potential to be commercialised in their home country. Each of the seven winners in this category will receive a cash prize of Rs 1.5 lakh.
