Netflix celebrates 25th anniversary

Netflix, which was founded on August 29, 1997, is celebrating 25 years of bringing you the shows and movies you love to watch — whether through the mail, your browser, or an app.

While Netflix was founded in 1997, it did not launch Netflix.com until April 14, 1998.

Beetlejuice was the first DVD to be shipped (March 10, 1998). Boss Baby is the most popular profile icon in the world, with 11 million profiles.

The first Netflix Original, Lilyhammer, debuted in 2012.

A Netflix user made a dress out of 1,500 DVD envelopes.

Netflix launched in 130 countries on January 6, 2016, and has offices in 28 cities around the world.
