Microsoft is releasing a fix for an issue that caused MS Access applications to fail to open after installing the Patch Tuesday Office/Access security updates for July 2022.

This issue is caused by KB5002112 and KB5002121 for MS Access 2016 and MS Access 2013, respectively.

Customers who own retail versions of Office 2016, 2019, and 2021, as well as Microsoft 365 Apps Current Channel, can already get a fix.

Access users who are unable to recreate their ACCDE/MDE files to resolve the issue can uninstall the offending updates.

Uninstalling this month’s cumulative updates will also remove security updates that address a Microsoft Office security feature bypass vulnerability (CVE-2022-33632) that was addressed in the July 2022 Patch Tuesday.

This is due to Microsoft’s decision to include all security updates in a single update.
