LockBit claims to steal 100 GB of data from the Italian Internal Revenue Service

LockBit claims they stole 100 GB of data from the Italian Internal Revenue Service (L’Agenzia delle Entrate).

The data will be leaked online if the tax agency does not pay a ransom demand by August 1st.

Sogei SpA, which manages the IT infrastructure used by other Italian government agencies, claims to have found no evidence of a cyberattack on the revenue agency.

In February, the FBI issued a flash alert with indicators of compromise associated with LockBit.

On its website, the Italian Revenue Agency issued an official statement regarding “the alleged theft of data from the tax information system.”

The agency also manages the IT infrastructure used by other Italian agencies such as the Ministries of Justice, Interior, and Education, as well as the State Attorney General and the Treasury.
