Former Bangladesh men’s team fielding coach Ryan Cook will take over as interim head coach of the Netherlands men’s team

The decision had to be made due to the health of regular head coach Ryan Campbell, who had a series of cardiac arrests and had to be hospitalised last month. Campbell, on the other hand, is anticipated to make a full recovery and was recently released from his Stoke-on-Trent hospital. Campbell is likely to return to the club later this summer, according to the Koninklijke Nederlandse Cricket Bond.

Cook has previously worked with Netherlands veterans Peter Borren and Pieter Seelaar, as well as assistant coaches at Hobart Hurricanes, South Africa A, and South Africa Under-19. South African Test cricketers Jimmy Cook and Stephen Cook are his father and brother, respectively.

Cook said in a statement, “I am honoured to be joining the club and look forward to working with the players and coaches over the coming few months.” “We have an interesting schedule ahead of us, and I want to help the squad improve.”

The Netherlands will host the West Indies for three one-day internationals early next month as part of the ICC Super League, which will determine who will play in the 2023 ODI World Cup. After that, England will play three One-Day Internationals at Amstelveen, their first encounter with the Netherlands in over 11 years, followed by two T20Is against New Zealand and two ODIs against Pakistan, all at home.

The Netherlands are presently in lowest place in the Super League standings, with only two wins in ten games (both against Ireland).
