Elon Musk, CEO of Twitter, has asked managers to approve remote work for his team members at their own risk. “At the risk of repeating myself, any manager who falsely claims that someone reporting to them is doing excellent work or that a given role, whether remote or not, is essential will be removed from Twitter,” he said. Twitter has fired over 3,700 people in two weeks, and a slew of high-ranking executives have resigned.
Earlier he gave an ultimatum to Twitter employees to do “extremely hardcore” work or leave. Previously, he required employees to work at least 40 hours per week in order to be eligible for remote work. Any manager who defends a remote worker or falsely claims that someone reporting to them is doing excellent work will be fired.
Elon Musk, co-founder and CEO of Twitter, has stated that his employees can work from home if it is not logistically possible or if they have “important personal matters” to attend to. A disabled Twitter employee is currently suing the company over Musk’s ban on remote work. Previously, he issued an ultimatum to Twitter employees to perform “extremely hardcore” work or leave.
