As the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) continue their feud over “freebies” and the “revdi culture,” Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal attacked the Centre on Thursday, 11 August, for taxing the poor while exempting the rich.

On the other hand, the BJP government at the Centre accused Kejriwal of using “freebies” as a ruse to gain votes during elections.

On the dangers of the “revdi (sweet) culture,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi warned people on July 16 not to fall for “freebie tactics,” in which votes are obtained by promising freebies. He said this at the opening of an expressway in Bundelkhand.
