Mazars halts work for cryptocurrency customers

Mazars has halted all work for cryptocurrency customers. It is the auditing firm that works with major cryptocurrency exchange Binance.

Mazars had earlier this month undertaken a so-called proof-of-reserves check on Binance’s bitcoin holdings. The audit firm has removed the webpage containing the check report, which was published on December 7.

The suspension comes amid an investigation into how such companies handle user payments. Users questioned if stolen keys had jeopardised Binance accounts.

However, Binance stated that it undertook an internal investigation to see whether bad actors were targeting the exchange.
