Huawei and Oppo signs a cross-licensing agreement

Huawei said that it has engaged into a patent cross-licensing agreement with Oppo, the company’s main local competitor.

The agreement includes acquiring global rights to Huawei’s coveted 5G patents. According to Huawei Founder Ren Zhengfai, the company’s intellectual property team would increase its efforts to convert its enormous pool of parents into revenue with appropriate price and return.

Huawei has been barred from importing equipment into the United States by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Five FCC members voted, resulting in a unanimous conclusion (4-0).

Along with Huawei, the list of prohibited businesses also included ZTE Corp., Hangzhou Hikvision Digital Technology Co., Dahua Technology Co., and Hytera Communications Corp.
