Biometric Capture Devices Bought on eBay Are Said to Contain Sensitive US Military Data.

On one of the device’s memory cards, researchers uncovered 2,632 people’s photos, iris scans, names, nationalities, and fingerprints.

They were spurred by a report from 2021 alleging that the Taliban had stolen comparable US military biometric equipment.

The US Defense Department is requesting that anyone in possession of a device containing personally identifiable information bring it to them for inquiry. Due to the sensitivity of the material, the team wants to erase any personally identifiable data detected on the devices.

The US government should provide sanctuary to anyone who is found on such gadgets, even if they have changed their names.
