Xiaomi lays off staff in multiple divisions

According to impacted employees and local media sources, Xiaomi, a Chinese smartphone manufacturer, has begun laying off employees in multiple divisions.

This decision is apparently motivated by lower sales as a result of China’s Covid-19 lockdowns and slow consumer spending. As of Sept. 30, Xiaomi employed 35,314 workers, with over 32,000 in mainland China.

Xiaomi has set an ambitious goal of dethroning iPhone producer Apple from the top spot in the globe by 2024. This series currently has two variants: the normal Xiaomi 13 and the Xiaomi 13 Pro.
