WWE CEO and Chairman Vince McMahon steps down amid an investigation into allegations of misconduct
Vince McMahon, the CEO and Chairman of WWE, has stepped down amid an investigation into allegations of misconduct.
The 76-year-old businessman will be replaced by his daughter Stephanie McMahon until the board’s investigation into his and head of talent relations John Laurinaitis’ alleged behaviour is completed.
‘I have pledged my complete cooperation to the Special Committee’s investigation, and I will do everything possible to support the investigation,’ he said. I have also pledged to accept the investigation’s findings and outcome, whatever they may be.’
The board of directors stated in a press release that McMahon has “voluntarily stepped back from his responsibilities as CEO and Chairman of the Board until the conclusion of the investigation.”
During this time, he will’retain his role and responsibilities related to WWE’s creative content,’ while his daughter Stephanie has been named interim CEO and interim Chairwoman.
