Taiwan chipmaker TSMC intends to manufacture chips with advanced 3-nanometer technology at its new Arizona plant.
Morris Chang, the company’s founder, stated that the plans are not yet complete. Taiwan’s dominance as a manufacturer of chips used in technology ranging from cell phones to fighter jets has raised concerns that the world is overly reliant on the island.
Chang claimed that people had only recently realised how important chips were. Both the United States and Europe are offering billions of dollars in incentives to encourage companies to manufacture chips closer to home.
