Sonny Barger Hells Angels founder dies at the age of 83

Sonny Barger, the Hells Angels motorcycle club’s founder, died at the age of 83.

He was diagnosed with throat cancer in 1983 and had his prostate removed in 2012 due to prostate cancer.

Born in Modesto, California, he was a member of several biker gangs before founding the Oakland Hells Angels in 1957.

In April, the group celebrated its 65th anniversary.

Sonny, who was born and raised by an alcoholic father, was suspended from school several times for fighting.

He joined the Army at the age of 16, but was honourably discharged a year later after forging his birth certificate in order to join a biker gang.
