Savitri Jindal is one of the few Indian housewives who left the home only to work in the family business.

With a net worth of $5.6 billion, the 69-year-old is the richest Indian woman (INR 40200 crore).

Om Prakash Jindal, the Jindal Group’s founder, died in a helicopter crash in 2005. Savitri Jindal inherited shares in the Jindal Group of Companies as well as her husband’s Haryana political constituency of Hissar.

She was appointed Minister of State for Revenue, Disaster Management, Housing, and Rehabilitation in 2005.

She also served as Minister of Power until 2010. At the age of 69, she avoids business matters and devotes her time to overseeing various social welfare programmes.
