Sam Mendes’ empire of light to release on December 3 in theaters

“Empire of Light,” Sam Mendes’ next film, will be released exclusively in theatres on December 3, 2022.

The drama is the director’s first solo writing project since 1917.

It is set in the 1980s and stars Olivia Colman, Michael Ward, and Colin Firth.

Mendes won the Best Director Oscar for “American Beauty” in 1999.

The film is a love story set in an old movie theatre.

It will reunite Mendes with Oscar-winning cinematographer Roger Deakins.

The two will appear together in the 2021 indie drama “Mothering Sunday.”

According to the studio, the film is a “powerful and poignant story about human connection and the magic of cinema.”
