Russia accuses Ukraine of sabotage as it ‘confirms’ the role of an elite military unit

The explosions at a munitions depot in Crimea have been blamed on’sabotage,’ according to Russia’s defence ministry.

According to a senior Ukrainian official, the blasts were carried out by an elite Ukrainian military unit operating behind enemy lines.

The explosions occurred near the village of Mayskoye in the Dzhankoi district, resulting in the detonation of ammunition.

According to the ministry, there were no serious injuries.

Approximately 2,000 people were evacuated from the site of an explosion at a Russian military airbase in Crimea.

Images show massive fireballs erupting at the site and billowing clouds of black smoke into the air.

Governor Sergei Aksyonov stated that two civilians were injured but that their lives were not in danger.

After annexing the Ukrainian peninsula in response to massive street protests in Kiev, Russia annexed Crimea in 2014.
