Norway hit by a cyberattack, pro-Russian hacker group identified

In the last 24 hours, a cyberattack temporarily managed to knock out public and private websites in Norway, according to Norwegian authorities.

According to Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Stre, the attack “did not cause any significant damage.”

A secure national data network was the target of the distributed-denial-of-service attack.

According to a Norwegian security official, the attacks appear to be the work of a criminal pro-Russian group.

The Norwegian ambassador to Moscow was summoned in connection with a complaint about Russian coal-mining supplies.
