The process for filing presidential nominations for the election began on Wednesday, when the Election Commission issued a notification asking electors to fill the vacancy. The election is set to take place on July 18.

The nomination process began on the same day that various opposition parties met in Delhi to choose a presidential candidate.

Following ECI’s Gazette notification of the Presidential election today, 11 candidates filed their nominations. One nomination was rejected out of 11 submitted due to missing documents.

Nominations can be submitted until June 29, and the papers will be reviewed on June 30. The deadline for withdrawing from the election has been set for July 2.
