In the coming years, NASA’s Orion spacecraft will transport astronauts to the Moon. The first test flight, without a crew, is intended to ensure the vehicle’s safety. Orion is expected to travel 40,000 miles beyond the Moon, which would be a record for a habitable capsule. Orion will complete half an orbit around the Moon in about a week.

According to NASA, Orion will fly about 40,000 miles above the Moon. It took off from Florida last week on its way to the Moon. Orion will then begin its journey back to Earth, with a scheduled landing in the Pacific Ocean on December 11. The mission’s success will determine the fate of the Artemis 2 and Artemis 3 missions.
