NASA releases quite eerie audio clip of a black hole

NASA has discovered that black holes emit sounds similar to moans and wails.

The sounds are created by pressure waves that ripple from a black hole through a galaxy cluster.

At 57 octaves below middle C, the actual sound is beyond the range of human hearing.

The data was collected by the Chandra X-ray Observatory from the ripples in the Perseus galaxy cluster.

NASA has released audio interpretations of Hubble Space Telescope optical data and radio waves from Chile’s Atacama Large Millimeter Array.

The black hole in the first black-hole photo taken by the Event Horizon Telescope project sounds like “a billion souls being tortured.”

The loudest part of the M87 noise comes from the exact location of the black hole in the image.

NASA shared audio interpretations of Hubble Space Telescope optical data and radio waves from Chile’s Atacama Large Millimeter Array.

The sounds were scaled up from their original pitch to something audible.

The brightest part of the image corresponds to the loudest part, which is precisely where the black hole is located.

NASA originally released the audio clip in May, but it was re-released on Monday.
