The first photos of celestial entities in space were taken by China’s Lobster Eye Imager for Astronomy, or LEIA. The x-ray imaging telescope, which debuted four months ago, is expected to be a significant astronomical instrument. The Cygnus Loop nebula and the Scorpius X-1 binary star system were among the first images obtained by LEIA. The Lobster Eye Imager is part of China’s attempt to test the Einstein Probe. The Einstein probe’s Wide-field X-ray telescope contains 12 LEAI modules.

The Chinese Academy of Sciences led the mission, which is in line with the country’s Strategic Priority Program for Space Science. The x-ray imaging telescope employs 36 plates guided by two pairs of imaging sensors. It has true imaging capability and a large observing field of view, making it an excellent tool for exploring the universe’s skies.
