The new iPhone 14 series is said to include satellite connectivity.

Unlike cellular networks, which rely on nearby cellular towers, satellite phones can operate in remote locations.

While cellular towers provide a fairly reliable connectivity network around the world, they are limited to the location of nearby towers.

However, as long as you’re on the planet’s surface, spotty coverage isn’t a problem for satellites.

To use one, you’ll need a satellite phone, a satellite connectivity network, and a sizable budget.

Satellite phones, unlike regular cell phones or smartphones, will only work on a single network.

If you use an Iridium phone, for example, you will have better coverage all over the world.

Some of the providers include Iridium, Inmarsat, Thuraya, and Globalstar, with the latter reportedly collaborating with Apple to bring the feature to the iPhone 14-series.

Many people consider renting a satellite phone in India, but there are some limitations.

Satellite phones cannot be imported from outside the country and must be purchased from an Indian distributor.

Following the 2011 Mumbai terrorist attack, the use of Thuraya and Iridium satellite phones was also prohibited in India.

Imports, on the other hand, are permissible if you have legal permission from the DoT.
