Google employees demand for contractors to receive abortion benefits

More than 650 Google employees have signed a petition urging the company to extend abortion-related health benefits to contractors and improve user privacy protection.

According to employees, benefits do not extend to Google’s temporary, vendor, or contract workers.

The petition comes after Facebook provided law enforcement with private messages between a mother and daughter accused of having an illegal abortion.

Alphabet has continued to make reproductive and gender affirming healthcare a “women’s issue” by only providing listening sessions to women@ Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) and using gendered language in their communication.
