Founder of Thodex faces extradition after stealing $2 billion

The founder of a Turkish cryptocurrency exchange platform who fled after stealing $2 billion was apprehended in Albania.

Faruk Faith Ozer, the founder of Thodex, is facing extradition to Turkey, where he could face 40,564 years in prison.

He shaved his head to avoid detection, but fingerprint and facial recognition data helped identify him as the fraudster.

Ozer fled Turkey in April 2021, having stolen approximately $2 billion from 400,000 clients.

Interpol, according to the Turkish Interior Ministry, initiated the extradition process.

Ozer and a few others are facing prison sentences of more than 40,000 years.
