Elon Musk announced Thursday on Twitter that the company’s much-anticipated Cybertruck will be “waterproof enough to serve briefly as a boat, so it can cross rivers, lakes, and even calm seas.”
Musk continued, saying that the truck “needs to be able to get from Starbase to South Padre Island, which requires crossing the channel.”
The Cybertruck was first unveiled in November 2019 at Tesla’s Design Studio in Los Angeles.
Tesla claimed that the Cybertruck’s “Armor Glass” windows were virtually unbreakable during the unveiling, but two of them shattered when Franz von Holzhausen threw a metal ball at each of them.
Despite the complications surrounding the unveiling, Tesla fans were ecstatic about the truck.
