Elon Musk, Twitter’s new owner, reportedly fired the company’s head of ad sales, Robin Wheeler. Wheeler was fired on Friday, according to Casey Newton, who runs the Platformer newsletter. Wheeler did not respond immediately to Insider’s request for comment. Employees have described chaotic working conditions, such as 84-hour work weeks and sleeping on the office floor.
Wheeler resigned last Thursday, along with several other senior executives. More than 3,700 jobs have been cut and 1,200 employees have resigned since the takeover.
One employee was fired following a public disagreement with Musk on Twitter, and contractors were abruptly terminated with less than 24 hours notice.
After Musk asked employees to commit to a “extremely hardcore” Twitter 2.0 or quit, the payroll department and other financial employees left in droves.
