Elon Musk criticizes Twitter board for failing to disclose the prevalence of spam to the public
In a Twitter thread, Elon Musk criticised the Twitter board for failing to disclose the prevalence of spam to the public.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk tweeted a photo of Jiminy Cricket from Pinocchio with the words “Give a little whistle.”
Following the tweet, a screenshot of an article from The Washington Post detailing what happened was shown.
So spam prevalence *was* shared with the board, but the board chose not disclose that to the public … pic.twitter.com/lXk48TFZL1

According to the article, four people familiar with the company’s spam detection processes told the publication that there were more bots and spam than the number provided to Wall Street.
Ex-Twitter CEO Jeff Zatko revealed that nearly half of the company’s employees had access to sensitive user data.
The data included phone numbers, addresses, and other important information, as well as information about how the software worked internally.
He also accused Twitter’s board of directors of discouraging him from providing a full accounting of security lapses.
