The bench also questioned senior advocate A M Singhvi, who was representing Shiv Sena chief Sunil Prabhu, on how the floor test can affect the disqualification process or interfere with the speaker’s powers.

People who have switched sides do not reflect the will of the people, according to Singhvi, and the heavens will not fall if the floor Test is not held tomorrow.

A vacation bench of Justices Surya Kant and J B Pardiwala concluded that the floor test is the only way to resolve democratic issues.
