Earlier, Sindhu, who has silver and bronze medals from the 2018 and 2014 editions, was clearly the better player on display as she maintained a firm grip on the match.

Sindhu appeared to be limited in her movement due to the strapping of her left achilles. The Singaporean made some nice shots to make it 8-4 early on, but she let the Indian draw level.

Sindhu led by two points at the break thanks to a straight drop. The Indian relied on her technical ability, hitting the right shots at the right time, to pull ahead.

Yeo Jia Min was too erratic to put any pressure on Sindhu, who increased her lead to 19-12 with a flawless net shot.

The Singaporean troubled the Indian with her cross court slices, forcing her to move diagonally to close the gap to 16-19.

But a forehand return to the net by Sindhu gave her three game points, which she converted on the third try.

The second game became a seesaw battle, with the two playing some intense rallies, but Sindhu ensured that she was ahead at the break.

Sindhu was two points away from the final after a wide return and a goal.

Then, with a long shot, Yeo gave Sindhu five match points. She blew two chances before unleashing a flawless body smash to advance to the final.
