Demand for Mahindra & Mahindra vehicles outstrips production capacity

On Friday, Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd stated that demand for its vehicles is outstripping production capacity.

The automaker reported a sharp increase in first-quarter net profit as passenger vehicle sales increased by 74% year on year to 149,803.

It currently has a monthly capacity of around 6,000 of these vehicles.

Mahindra said it received more than 100,000 orders for its Scorpio-N SUV, which has a sales value of around 180 billion rupees ($2.3 billion).

The company currently has the capacity to produce approximately 6,000 of these vehicles per month.

Last year, a chip shortage severely hampered Mahindra’s vehicle supply.
