Debridge Finance Alleges Lazarus Group of Attacking the Protocol’s Team

Lazarus Group allegedly attempted to attack Debridge Finance, a decentralised finance project. Lazarus Group, a North Korean hacking collective, has been implicated in a number of defi exploits.

Alex Smirnov, co-founder of Debridge, warned Web3 teams that the campaign was likely widespread.

The US Treasury Department has added the Lazarus Group to the Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons List (SDN).

According to Debridge Finance executive Alex Smirnov, his team received a PDF file with the subject line “New Salary Adjustments” from an email address that spoofs mine.

Although Smirnov insisted that the attack would not infect Mac users, when Windows users opened the password-protected PDF, they were prompted to enter the system password.

The files in the attack on the Debridge Finance team had the same names and were “attributed to Lazarus Group,” he claimed.
