Narayan Rane, a Union minister and BJP leader, demanded Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray’s resignation, citing the Shiv Sena’s performance in the Rajya Sabha elections, and claiming that his Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government was in minority.

Rane, a known critic of the Shiv Sena and Thackeray, told reporters that the defeat of the Sena’s second candidate in the polls was an embarrassment for the chief minister, who is also the party’s president.

On Friday, Sena’s Sanjay Pawar lost to BJP’s Dhananjay Mahadik, the party’s third nominee, in the fiercely contested elections for the total of six seats. NCP and Congress, the other MVA partners, each won one seat.

Rane stated that the BJP legislators demonstrated loyalty and honesty in ensuring the victory of all three-party candidates.
