Amazon to lay off employees in India

When they found out they had to go, some Amazon employees in India reportedly broke down and cried in the office.

Grapevine, a network app for Indian professionals, shared the photographs. The Labour Commission Office in Pune served Amazon with a notice last week for their massive layoffs.

The Union Labour Ministry made a demand to Bengaluru’s Deputy Chief Labour Commissioner. NITES wrote to Union Labour Minister Bhupender Yadav, alleging that Amazon employees were fired without cause. According to Amazon CEO Andy Jassy, he expects further layoffs in the first quarter of 2023.
