Amazon could resolve two EU antitrust investigations by the end of the year. To address concerns about its use of seller data, the company has made concessions. According to one of the sources, Amazon has expanded the types of data it cannot use. It has also treated sellers fairly when ranking their offers for the “buy box.”
By resolving the EU investigations, the company will avoid a fine of up to 10% of its global turnover. Amazon offered in July not to use seller data for its own competing retail business or private label products. The European Commission sought feedback from competitors and customers and stated that the company’s concession needed to be improved.
